Zig and I were just reminiscing about the time Raskal got stuck in the tree after following Boyfren up there. He's just too fluffy to navigate a tree.
Looking at the photos makes me miss our Iowa backyard in summer time. The humidity! The cicadas! The trees! The endless tomatoes! Sitting here in my cold house in the middle of winter, all of those things sound so good to me right now.
Today I set up the backdrop and did a few portraits to use at the Belmont Street Fair in September. As a fund raiser for the House of Dreams cat shelter, I will be offering on-the-spot portraits of people and/or their dogs for ten bucks a pop (what a deal!) and needed some display images to entice folks to sit for my camera.
Zig and Raskal are so photogenic...
...but Boyfren wasn't really into having his picture taken.
This is Lily, a most amazing human who happens to be shaped like a dog.
And this is Ming, rich with all the lovable traits of a pug and then some.
Once again I was fortunate to have friends come over for breakfast and general Sunday morning hanging-about. It was so good.
Raskal is such a mellow kitty and Lily is such a mellow doggie that they seemed to tolerate/like each other. Raskal kept reaching over to touch Lily's paws. Awww.
This is my friend Ralph
sweetness...
These two photos by Ralph:
After everyone left Ralph played his electric guitar purty dern loud, which was fun. I love it when he plays for me. We sing. It's awesome.
And he taught me a Beatles tune.
Altogether an amazing day.
I've been working on a new bag, which includes the task of seeking out more and more used grocery bags from recycle bins. This pawing through recycle bins at the grocery store embarrasses Ziggy to no end, especially when I get excited about finding a new color bag. But look at how cool the finished tote is with so much color!
I've also started to rethink the 8-ply vs. 4-ply question. With careful use of the iron at a low temp, you can do 8-ply and come away with a sheet that's not too crispy/still flexible and very strong.
Here's the back:
I've been using my other tote for groceries and it never fails to attract attention. People get pretty excited to hear it's made out of old grocery bags.
I think it makes Raskal look smaller than he actually is:
I shot this with the camera on my computer today. Usually at about the same time every morning, right when I'm at a crucial point in my Day In Pictures editing, Raskal decides it's time to take over my lap. He's so fluffy and squishy and snuggly and sleepy-faced, how could I possibly turn him away? It means doing a one-handed DIP, which takes a bit of skill, but it's worth it. Usually, he starts getting irritated with my keyboard movements and his tail does that swishing thing.
I had to shoot a few of these before I could get a shot where you can actually see him. He's so black, if he doesn't open his eyes, it just looks like I'm wearing a fuzzy sweater.
